You value our coast and countryside and want to see them protected for our children and grandchildren to enjoy, but are not sure what you can do about it.

Up and down the country, people are recognising that a passive reaction to the encroachment on our green spaces means losing out to developers who are thinking about short term profits.  Our countryside is under threat and all of us who care about it have to make a choice.  Do we sit back and let others struggle to hold the destructive tide at bay?  Or do we join the fight and add our voices to those standing up for our green heritage?

There is plenty you can do if you have a mind to.

  • Attend public meetings when an action group is opposing some scheme you know would affect an area you care about.
  • Write to Northumberland County Council when the planning application is due for decision and voice your objection, with reasons.
  • Join a group that helps improve popular areas in a practical way - by clearing litter, improving pathways or planting trees.
  • Join CPRE - and attend our local meetings here in Northumberland if you can.  You will be very welcome and you may well have just the talent we need.
  • If nothing else, you can donate to CPRE Northumberland and have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to protect the county you love for future generations to enjoy.
