Renewable energy

Renewable energy can have a place in a thriving countryside. CPRE Northumberland supports the idea of renewable energy as a way of reducing carbon emissions as we work towards a countryside that everyone can enjoy free from the effects of air pollution and climate breakdown.

This means getting more of our energy from wind, sunlight, and hydropower, and we understand that alongside efficient technologies for capturing wave/tidal power, solar and thermal energy, there should also be, (evenly distributed through all parts of the country) some careful placement of wind turbines where they will not damage cherished landscapes or threaten the beauty of our coast and countryside.
