Autumn 2023
CPRE Northumberland joined Alnwick Civic Society on a very pleasant walk around the delights of Alnwick town centre, looking at settlement history and buildings of interest. Our thanks to Peter Reed of ACS for a most informative and enjoyable tour..
Another enjoyable event was the annual Pub Quiz held at the Badger, Ponteland, on ‘England and the English Countryside’. Thirty-five participants filled the garden room producing a good natured and friendly vibe. The winning team were presented by the visiting ‘Miss Environment England’, Juliette Taylor, with a box of chocolates to share, and CPRE branded tote bags to use. Our thanks to our expert Quizmaster Stephen Tomlin.
Meanwhile, CPRE Northumberland has issued a handy graphic to spell out the main features of our campaign to encourage a ‘rooftop first’ approach to solar power installations. Such an approach would reduce the use of greenfield sites for huge ‘solar power farms’ – erected, as they might well be, with permission directly from the Government, and thus by-passing local opinion.
