Ovington Linear Arboretum

CPRE members and visitors were treated recently to a wonderful tour of the new Linear Arboretum, planned to link Ovington to Ovingham.

This Tyne Valley climate action project was the original brainchild of Ovingham’s Parish Council, some of whom set up the ‘Ovington Tree Planting Group’ charged with the task of securing project funds and planting sites.

Anne Hudson, of both organisations, guided us round the site on a very warm July afternoon. Her fascinating and expert narrative and skilfully answered questions, gave encouragement to a number of participants interested in doing something similar within their own communities.

Thank you to Anne and the OTPG for their time, and we look forward to returning on Sat 15 Oct, for a Volunteer Day, when we will help them with tree maintenance tasks.
